The history of the “ΧΑΡΟΥΛΑ” is steeped in tradition and began in 1978 in Marathokambos, Samos, where Nikolas Tsalapatanis built the boat “Marigo”. In 1980, “Marigo” reached the islet of Marathi without an engine, and Dimitris Kavouras started making trips with it in 1981. For almost 20 years, from 1981 to 2000, “Marigo” sailed around Patmos, showing excursionists the beautiful beaches of Kampos, Livadi, Meloi, Lampi, Psili Ammos, Livadi Geranou, and others.
After nearly 20 years, “Marigo” stopped the excursions and remained in the small port of Marathi. In 2019, Yiannis Kavouras, also known as Mazas*, bought “Marigo” from his cousin Dimitris Kavouras and after maintenance and complete renovation, christened it “Haroula”. Today, based in Lipsi, “Haroula” is ready to take you on a journey to the wonderful emerald waters of Tiganakia or Aspronisia, to the caves of Makronisi, Arkios and Marathi, and even to Archangelos on Leros.
Our blue speedboat is a newly built vessel that we acquired in 2021. It was originally built in Patmos in 2008 by the skilled shipbuilder and owner, Mike Florentis, and was named Samantha. For 10 years, Samantha made small private cruises to the surrounding islands, and importantly, provided non-profit transportation for patients. In 2021, we were honored to purchase Samantha from Mike with his blessing to continue her legacy of service.
This 11-meter boat has a service speed of 21 miles and can accommodate up to 13 passengers. It includes a cabin and a restroom to ensure your comfort during your private cruise.
We offer customized private cruises to some of the most stunning islands in the region, including Makronisi, Aspronisi, Tiganakia, Marathi, Arkius, and Archangelo Lerou. The choice of islands is entirely up to each customer, and the duration of the cruise is 8 hours. We have renamed the vessel to Panagia tou Charo ex Samantha to honor its past and to continue its legacy of exceptional service.
